Oban Sailing Club is an RYA approved dinghy and powerboat training centre. We run a variety of courses (see the full list and details below) following the RYA schemes in dinghies, powerboats and onshore, and offer keelboat coaching, all generally between April and October. Our summer holiday junior weeks run in a block during Argyll and Bute summer holidays. If you’ve any questions about training courses at Oban Sailing Club, please see our frequently asked questions or contact us at training@obansailingclub.org.
Dinghy sailing courses for beginners include a membership for the remainder of the current season, but our other courses require you to join the club beforehand.
For informal sailing for all ages, coaching and a chance to have fun and practice your skills check out our Monday Mayhem sessions.
All of our courses are organised by volunteers and run by either local volunteer instructors or instructors brought in from outwith the club.
Training News – March2023
We have published the first round of RYA Dinghy and Powerboat courses, and are currently sourcing instructors in order to run additional RYA Junior Beginner, Junior Advanced, and Adult Beginner courses to take place in July and August. Please bear with us whilst our volunteers organise these courses – check back often to see any new dates.
Alternatively, if you’re interested in a course in 2023 then please take a look at last year’s training calendar, then register your interest in a course and you’ll get an email when it (or a potential alternative course) is ready to book in 2023.
We’ve plenty of taster sessions and other open activities for all levels – see our Events list in the season for details.
