Season Twilight Update

September 26, 2022 Off By Oban Sailing Club

Dear Members

Sailing Calendar

We’re getting to the final events of the season. The weekend of Oct 1/2 will see the final dingy and keelboat events. Many thanks to everyone who has helped contribute to putting on the 2022 sailing programme of events – safety boat drivers, shore helpers, race officers, …. Huge appreciation from all those who went sailing this year.

Monday Mayhem

We had to pause Monday Mayhem earlier this week, and the nights are really getting dark quite quickly. So the idea is that on Monday 26th we meet at 6pm in the Clubhouse to talk through a few things – how to keep Monday Mayhem activity going during the winter, what we need to do for next year, how we can make it even better. Anyone interested in dinghy sailing welcome to come along.

Annual Dinner

We have an annual dinner scheduled in the calendar for November 12th. Please note this in your diaries – more details to follow.

AGM

The Annual General Meeting of the club follows on from the dinner on Monday November 14th. This will be an in-person meeting in the clubhouse. AGMs aren’t renowned for being the most exciting activity in the year and often regarded as a place where you get your arm twisted to sit on a committee. I can absolutely promise that the latter will not happen, I can’t make any promises on the excitement of the AGM. Again, put it in your diary and come along, share your thoughts and ideas about the club.

Hazard Observation Workshop

Argyll and Bute Council are running a ‘Hazard Observation Workshop’ which is being held at the McCaig Suit,  first floor of  the Corran Halls, on Tuesday 27th September. The workshop is being facilitated by ABPmer Marine Consultants and its aim is review and identify potential marine hazards to navigation within the Oban area. The workshop runs from 0900 to 1630 hrs (so all day event) but if anyone is able to take part please let me know. I understand that you can also drop in as your time permits.

That’s all for this notice.
